Take your medications. Exercise will help keep/make your glucose go down and help keep it under control. If you are overweight, do the best you can to lose weight (I know. it is a lot easier said than done). And meet with a diabetic trained nutritionist for meal planning and correct way for a diabetic to eat.

Keep in contact with your doctor and have regular checks. Follow the special diet recommended by your doctor. Diabetes can be a silent killer if ignored . but people can lead normal lives if they follow the doctor's rules.
