need help identifying an itchy, blistering rash on arms, legs, groin, chest and back?

My granny about 6 months ago developed an odd rash that was very itchy, to the point she could not sleep at night without Ambien and even then she would wake up periodically digging at her skin. It was first thought to be shingles but there was no pain and it was appearing in different locations on her body. Her doctor prescribed Atarax for the itch but it only did minimal good. She was admitted into the hospital a couple of months later with other problems as well and there the doctors said it was scabies. She was treated for them with 2 doses of Elimite cream. Upon her release she was admitted to a skilled nursing facility where the seemed to get better little by little all the while still itching. Just in the last couple of weeks they have started getting worse again but this time accompanied by blisters on her legs, chest, back, one on her eyelid and in her groin area. Meanwhile she is itching herself bloody. We have an appointment with a Derm. but not for another 10 days. HElP!

Answers:
sounds like blood infection. (bacterial)

IF SCABIES: try ointments with CROTAMITON. if this doesn't work, I bet blood infection is the answer to the riddle.

TIP: SEPARATE HER BEDDINGS AND OTHER CLOTHES TO AVOID CROSSING. IF THIS IS SCABIES AND YOU SHARE THE SAME SOFA SEATS, BEDDINGS ETC. , YOU SHOULD BE SCRATCHING YOUR SKIN BY NOW.

****can't wait for 10 days?****

(this one is unethical): try taking VIRLIX just once. one tablet, then nothing more. it won't do your granny harm. then see if she's losing the itchy sensation. <---if that is the case, then it's blood infection.

GO CHECK DOC REGULARLY.

How do you cope with a post-break up depression?

she may have been reinfected, although some of the areas you describe are not typical of scabies. She may need a skin biopsy for a definitive diagnosis. Meanwhile use antihitamines for itching.
