What are the odds of your mother dying from terminal cancer and your father being diagnosed 1 week later?
Question:
Answers:
I am so sorry you lost your mother and that your father is sick.
Statistics are usually on an overall basis, however if it's the same cancer, maybe they were both exposed to something?
When one spouse dies the other often becomes overwhelmingly stressed. Disease comes into people's lives through stress and a set of behaviors that are contrary to health.
Love your father and make certain that he takes care of his basic needs. He needs plenty of rest, to eat properly and to get some kind of emotional support to cope with losing his spouse.

I don't know what the odds are but that is sad. I will be praying for your family.
devastating.it happened in my family with my father (died after us knowing for only a few weeks) and both grandmother learning within that month of their cancer. this was a year and a half ago today. We had a tough year and also lost an uncle to cancer. My sympathies.but stay strong..my friend (32), just had a tumor stage IV removed in november and is now free of any mutant cells and malignancies. we can hope he'll stay that way!
btw..I learned that medical issues that occur after 60 years of age do not count as hereditary. my dad was exactly 59.5 and his doctor said he still fits into this category. how about you?
1 in 1 in the case of this question- it is possible that mom and dad had an exposure to something in common that may have had some bearing on the situation- smoking can have something to do with it- possibly (and I am a smoker, so it isn't anti tobacco "freak out" that prompts my statement)- if it is lung cancer, could be an environmental factor if not, could be lots of things. could be just a coincidence.
Wow. What is it caused from? Was it environmental? If so you should get checked out too. Sorry to hear, don't know what else to say..
odds are low but such things do happen. i can only imagine that your parents must have been a very loving couple for both to suffer together. be strong and be around them as often as possible, that will give them much courage.
