Hepatitis B is contagious but you do not have to distance yourself from others. The ways in which it can be transmitted are either via infected blood products e.g. a transfusion or a needle prick that is contaminated with the person's blood; or by sexual intercourse without protection. Finally, it can also be transmitted from mother to baby.
