Everything you eat or drink is eaten or drunk by your baby. Since babies out of the uterus would not be advised to take claritin, I would not give babies in the uterus claritin.
The short answer is: nobody really knows for sure yet. There have not been any good studies in humans to determine the safety. Most doctors believe it is probably safe, but don't generally recommend it because of the limited studies done.

Don't take anything without your OB/GYNs express approval. There are allergy drugs you can take in your 2nd trimester and onwards, but your doctor's recommendations are going to depend a great deal on your current condition and medical history.
Claritin is not one of the medications that has been accepted as being safe for pregnant women.
No medication has been tested in rigorously scientific studies to determine if it is safe during pregnancy. Such a study would never pass any review board on any level due to the ethics involved.
However, there are certain medications that are accepted by the medical community as being safe during pregnancy. Remember though, all medications have side effects - using or not using any medication is always a balance between risk and benefit.
Consult with your obstetrician regarding any medication you are thinking of taking.
