Is there any1 out there who, like me,cleans MRSA infected rooms in hospitals as part of there job?
Question:
I work in local hospital and part of{well most of}my job involves cleaning of MRSA rooms,or barrier clean as they call it.I would like to no what your procedures are and what type of personal protective clothing[If any] is worn by yourself. Thanks
Answers:
I work in Pre-adm and sometimes we get MRSA+ patients. Immediately after, we have to clean. I or my supervisor wear vinyl or latex gloves and wipe everything down with a special antibacterial moist towelette that the hospital provides. The towelette contains special chemicals that are corressive to the skin so that's a second reason for wearing gloves before cleaning. We wipe everything down the seats, the rails, anything they may have potentially touched.
We also wear vinyl gloves while we deal with patients because they may not be aware they are MRSA carriers.
