Yes, unfortuneatly! I am one-meaning I am a carrier. 1 in 3 are carriers- they may or may not have outbreaks however. I do periodicly. I usually get it in my nose (really weird!) and they call it Cellulitis but it is a staph infection. Once I got it on my arms-big painful sores-yuck!

It's probably quite a lot. Most people having Staph. aureus on their skin (especially up the nose) and it causes infections like impetigo if it gets into dry, broken skin (e.g. skin with eczema).
