Could you tell me the symptoms of a baby who is allergic to dairy or lactose (are they the same)? Is there lactose in Soy formula?

In some formulas there might be.. look for milk protein, lactose, whey, calcium carbonate(I think). those are all things that will irritate a baby allergic to milk. i grew out of my alergy to milk but symptoms are TERRIBLE stomach pains, coughing, getting really stuffed up (in nose and sinuses)

they break out in hives (a rash almost like poison ivy) or can't stop throwing up, they start to swell up, diarhea

Hives would be the first symptom. Your baby may also have intestinal cramping and bloating, and even diarreah. And the intestinal cramping will cause colic in a very young baby. Call your pediatrician, and (s)he will give you answers.

Constantly screaming, crying, drawing legs up to the abdoman in pain, excruating gut cramps, true watery diarrhea. No, there is no lactose in soy milk. Lactose is a milk sugar found in all dairy(true)products. Also there sometimes can be rashes in the baby, really bad diaper rash that won't heal. Good luck.
