What is a bruise and what 'causes one?
Question:
Today is my B-day and everyone got B-day licks and my friends hit softly while other kids hit me hard and now I got a bruise on my arm. It hurts everytime I touch it. It is purple and red. What 'caused those colors and how long would it take for it to go away completely?
Answers:
A bruise consists of blood. When too much force or pressure is applied to your skin your cells and tissues are damaged. This causes bleeding. It's the same as swelling and bleeding in any other area. Healing time depends on the person and the amount of damage.
Other Answers:
A bruse is bleeding under the skin. Various things can cause the blood vessels to burst without breaking the skin. Getting pinched is one. Bruses turn blue because the blood outside the vessels (but still inside the skin) is no longer receiving oxygen
