In extreme cases prednisone can even induce psychiatric symptoms. I can't really say if hyperactivity is a frequent side effect, but the whole hormonal profile is affected by prednisone and mood changes are to be expected, to a certain extent.
Do contact your doctor if this worsens over time, instead of getting better.
