Keeping Stomach Trim and Fit With a Dilated Ascending Aortic Valve and Bicuspid Aorta?
Question:
I have a bisuspid aorta and possibly a dilated ascending aorta valve (the first is confirmed, and I'e heard a few contradicting stories for the second), but before I knew I had either of them, I did stomach crunches. Then, my cardiologist said that I shouldn't do that, so I haven't. Thing is, though, that I'm getting a bigger abdomen/stomach.
Does anybody have advice as to what I could do (excludign cheesy stuff like liposuction or fat removal - I'm talking about exercises or eating habits) that'll help me lose some of that weight?
Answers:
Don't do anything your cardiologist doesn't say you can, assuming he's any good he should have some advice. Swimming is excellent low impact exercise, why don't you ask him if you could do that? The GI diet is pretty sound. Just eat the minimum of foods that contain a lot of sugar or refined carbohydarates (that means basically anything with white flour in like pasta and bread)
Other Answers:
Try avoiding foods that are high on the glycemic index. They are supposed to be the big ones for adding belly fat. Read The South Beach Diet. It was written by a cardiologist and it works. Check with your Dr before you start it though.
Here is helpful information on these two sites.
