will the abdominal pain from metformin go away?
Question:
Answers:
The abdominal discomfort associated with metformin generally goes away after about a month or so. If it conitnues to be so unbearable that you do not want to take the medicine, you should ask the doctor what other medications may be right for you. Lactic acidosis is EXTREMELY rare and is more common in patients who have kidney problems or congestive heart failure.
Other Answers:
Metformin can be a dangerous drug, ab pain is sommon, but the worst side effect is lactic acidosis, which can be fatal in certain cases. I would recommend talking to your doctor about other drugs such as glitazones, sulfas, and the sort.
no
mine did after a little while
I took Metformin for a couple of years and suffered every day that I took it. For me the side effects never went away and for others it takes about a month. Always take with food even if it's only a slice of bread but always have something on your stomach when taking it. Good luck with it as I hear it's very good for controlling diabetes but just didn't work for me.
