i have a killer toothach and need to hold out till tuesday when i see the dentist. i need to find a way to numb the pain till then

Many years ago, a friend told me that soaking a wad of cotton-wool in a mix of rum & cloves, then placing it on the affected tooth, would help..I tried it and it did help but be warned.It tasted BAD!
