Some people will suggest using lemon juice, but there really is no "safe" way to lighten up your hair--because you are stripping color from your hair, it's damaging, even if you go to the professionals in salons.

If you go to a salon, they will be able to make it look more natural and help it from turning a brassy color, but you will still have the potential to seriously dry out your hair. Good luck in what ever you choose to do.
