How long does it take to train to be a pilates teacher?
Question:
Can you recommend any centres that are good to do the training at?
Answers:
It will take about 7 months if you are starting from scratch, have not been exercising, and don't know anything about Pilates. If that's not the case, skip the rest of this paragraph and read the next one. If starting from scratch, you should join a 24 hour fitness (if in the USA) or a gym that has all types of fitness classes (pilates, aerobics, weights, step, kick boxing). Work out three times a week, using weights and cardio, probably for about an hour/hour and a half (use the classes, and equipment, so that you get a cardio and muscular workout). Do this for 7 months, gradually increasing your resistance, distances, intensity as your fitness increases.
Once you have gotten fit (for about 7 months), approach the staff at the gym you go to. If you are in the USA, go to 24 hour fitness (they have a website www.24hourfitness.com ), as they have training seminars every year for instructors. Here you will learn how to teach the specific classes you want to teach (pilates, plus any others you are interested in).
Good luck, and I hope your teaching goes well!! : )
