Where can I find help for an uninsured person who needs surgery?
Question:
A friend of my son's has been advised that she needs to have gastric by-pass surgery or she will be dead within 4 years. This girl is only in her early 20's. She lost her job due to health absenteeism so has no job, no insurance, no income. We are doing fundraisers for her but are coming up way short of what she needs for her surgery. Isn't there some agency out there that we could contact for help?
Answers:
First contact your Health Department and ask them what they think. Chances are she will be eligible for Medicaid insurance.
