How do I firm up using weightlifting?
Question:
I'm getting conflicting reports. I have joined a gym, and am doing both cardio and weight lifting to take off a few extra pounds. I want to firm my muscles, and add some definition. I Do Not want the "bulking up" effect (it doesn't look feminine to ME). Do I achieve my goal of firming by using lighter weights and increasing my reps, or heavier weights and fewer reps??
Answers:
Most women cannot bulk up, no matter how heavy of a weight they use. If you gain muscle size easily, stick to the light weights with higher reps. If you don't gain muscle size very easily, go ahead an mix it up. Use heavy weights some days with low reps and light weights with high reps other days.
Other Answers:
lighter weights and more reps, or use your body as your gym. Pilates are great. Cardio is also great for tone, fat loss, and your heart. good luck!
