could anitbiotics taken everyday by a small child with kydney problems cause her to be overweight?
Question:
Answers:
Not usually - you probably need to see the urologist who prescribed the maintenance antibiotics to see if everything is okay with your little one - there are several antibiotics they can choose from at this time & they can work to find one that is a good match. My daughter was diagnosed with vesicoureteral reflux at the age of 3 months & was on daily maintenance antibiotics until she turned 4. This was to prevent her from getting any form of kidney or UTI infection & it played hell with her appetite. She was underweight for about 2 years (22 lbs) & even now at 7 is only 51 lbs. I suggest you call the urologist as soon as possible & discuss this with them because their professional answer will do more for your little one than anything we can tell you on here. Good luck!

I would think that your best answer would be from your physician. Mention it and see if it may or may not be the cause. If not then there may be other problems to look into.:)
