Question:
I am having gastric bypass surgery in may and was wondering if anyone else has had it and how much weight they lost in the first 4 months post-op.
Answers:
depends on how much of stomach area is bypassed and how much of food and what kind of food u r on after the surgery.
but a loss of 10 pounds or more for the first 3 months and 5 pounds or so for the next 7-10 months is expected, depending on the amount of fat in your body, your basal metabolic rate and other parameters.
Other Answers:
not me, but a close friend had it and lost 70 pounds in the first 3 months, now it is slowing down, but she has lost 90 pounds in 8 months
It depends what kind of gastric bypass your getting.. now-days the most common one is laproscopic-RNY .. in which case they lose about 20-30 lbs per month . hope this helps
