what's the difference between soft contact lens and hard contact lens?
Question:
which is better than the two and why?
thanks
Answers:
It depends. Choosing the best option is upto you.
Soft lenses are less durable but can be stylish.
Hard lenses are durable.
so upto you to choose durability or fashion
Rigid gas permeable (RGP) lenses, sometimes referred to as hard lenses, are made of slightly flexible plastics that allow oxygen to pass through them to the corneas of eyes. There are materials that should only be worn during the day and materials that can be worn throughout the night. RGPs give you excellent vision and have a short adaptation period. They are durable, come in light tints for handling and usually have a relatively long life.
Soft contact lenses are made of soft, flexible plastic that also allows oxygen to pass through it to the corneas of the eyes. There are soft lenses that are only to be worn during the waking hours and soft lenses designed for overnight wear. Usually these lenses are immediately comfortable and have a very short adaptation period. These lenses come in light tints, or tints that change the color of your eyes, and they also can be made bifocal. There are soft lenses which can be kept for about a year, ones that you replace every 3 or 4 months, monthly replacement lenses, two week replacement lenses or daily replacement lenses.
The contact lens doctors at the Eye Clinic will explain all of the options available to you and help you come up with the appropriate lenses for your eyes, your lifestyle and budget.

I think it's pretty self-explanatory..lol. I love my soft contact lenses! The hard ones are very uncomfortable.
soft are more comfortable and they dont fall out of your eyes as easily
The soft contacts are newer and more advanced, they are a whole lot better than the hard (gas perms), the only problem is you have to buy them a whole lot more often.
I don't wear contacts, but soft contacts are flexible, they move every which way. You can fold them over even. Hard contacts don't move. They stay the same shape. I think its a personal preference thing. I've known people who hate hard contacts but I've also known people to hate the soft kind.
Soft is better. Hard lenses were all that existed for years. Soft contacts came later. hard, are hard so they hurt your eyes more. Soft, are soft so you don't feel them in your eyes as much.
you can barely feel soft contacts. You can feel hard contacts most of the time and some people say that they could improve ur vision. I tried both. I started out w/soft, then hard, and now Im back to soft. I advise you not to get the hard ones because they are very irritating and they'll constantly bother you. They dont hurt, but u keep feeling like there is dust/something in ur eye and its annoying. You wont really feel soft contacts and they're very comfortable.

Soft contact lenses are more comfortable once you put them in your eye. Hard lenses take time to become used to them. Soft contact lenses also allow more oxygen to the eye and your eyes dont dry out as quickly as hard lenses.
Soft contact lenses are like a gell where the hard ones are like glass ! They can cut your eyes !! I wouldn't do that.
I have been wearing contacts 23 years.the first 5 were soft contacts and the rest with gas permeable (basically hard) lenses. With the soft lenses, I went through a pair a week pretty much. They tore or got calcium deposits and drove me nuts (my eyesight is really bad). My eye doc switched me to gas perms and I love them. One pair lasts a long time as long as they aren't lost or broken. I have had a single pair for as long as 5 years so they are economically a good choice. I can get them from 1-800-contacts like the other ones, but it does take a little longer. I highly recommend them.
Soft ones are comfortable for eyes,They are like a ballon filled with water.Hard ones may scratch your eye and may cause fungal infections.

I spent a lot of money on hard lenses and couldn't wear them because they hurt like hell. Soft lenses are much more comfortable. You can't feel them at all in your eyes. Hard lenses last a lot longer but your eye has to form a callus before you get used to them. I know a woman who had a pair of hard lenses for 10 years.)(
I like hard contact lenses. I had them over 5 years. They are much more durable than soft lenses, and thus, cost less over the long term. Hard Lenses are harder and smaller than soft lenses. Soft lenses are easier to get used to, but tear easier and have to be replaced more often. They do give you more freedom than glasses, that is for sure.
Soft is the way to go. I would suggest a very breathable moisture contact too. It really make a difference. Hard ones are old school and soooo uncomfortable!:)
