Needles.?

its a little sore now but the thing that hurts worst is the finger prick
why is it that finger pricks hurt worse then having big needles and a pint of blood taken from you?
Answers:
There are many many tiny nerve ending in your fingertips used to feel our way around whatever it is that we are touching. We need tougher skin on our hands that we use to touch with because we are touching things all day long and we need more nerve endings there too because we use our hands to learn about the invironment around us. Our arms, on the hand, (no pun intended) have much fewer nerve endings on them in any one given area because we don't go around feeling things, picking things up, and touching things with our arms. So.. when you get poked in the finger with a needle, the needle is coming in contact a lot of little nerves sending signals to the brain that "hey man this hurts!".. but when you get pricked in the arm, there are not nearly as many signals being sent to the brain.. less nerve endings. Sorry for the novel. =) have a great day.. and stop pricking yourself with needles.. unless you're diabetic ofcourse.

Your fingers are the part of the body that's most sensitive to touch. They have a lot of nerve endings that makes them very sensitive to touch, and pain. Your arms don't have as many nerve endings on them and aren't as sensitive, and that's why it hurts less to get pricked on your arm than it does to get pricked on your finger. I'm needle phobic actually, and I always make the doctors to take blood from my arm instead of my finger for that exact reason.

There a lot more nerve endings in finger tips than on other areas of the arm.more nerve endings to pick up on the pain. Plus, there is not as much padding in your fingers to cushion the well, blow.
Hi,, your fingers have more sensation nerves in them,, that is one of the major senses', we have as humans...remember.
Where they take the blood, does not.

hi! I have donated a bunch of times. i know exactly what you are talking about. i felt like such a baby. a heating pad helps a bunch and your arm(where they took the blood) will kill tomorrow so put a heating pad on that also or just soak in a warm bath for 30 minutes. I hope you feel better. Congrats on saving the world one person at a time =D
