Question:
Anyone have any good suggestions?
Answers:
This might sound OCD but if none of the above work i lay down close eyes and pick a topic in my head anything like movies music whatever then start at A and name something that relates exp. Movies: A Airplane B: Batman , till i get to Z most of the time i make it only part way in and im asleep. works great i also give myself a 3 strike rule for those letters i cant find a word for if i get to 3 i either think really hard or goto new topic.

take some sleeping pills
i was like that months ago. Try this: Wake up as early as you can- say 5am. Then don't take a nap in the afternoon. Then 2 hours before dinner do some laps/ or just do jumping jacks until you're tired.
Do that for a week and eventually your body clock will adjust to sleeping early. ^_^ Good luck.
Just relax and don't think about anything stressful.
consult with your physicians if needed.
a bottle of scotch
masturbate to orgasm.calms me down every time
I just close my eyes and imagine I'm in a black room. I refuse to let any images in, I just keep focusing on the black room I've pictured. I usually fall asleep within a few minutes. Basically, I bore myself to sleep that way
lights off dont think drink warm milk no chocolate or caffine and close ur eyes dont move and most importantly.. make sure u r tired if ur not read something boring i guess.
actually if i knew i owuldnt be awake
I suggest you do a lot of exercise in the evening after your working hours.
Good breathing exercises help.
NO CAFFEINE, also i've heard milk has chemicals to make you sleepy and it doesn't have to be warm. Also turn the tv off and make it dark. Dont worry about closing your eyes just lay there and look at the ceiling if you have to. If you still can't sleep get up and do something else until you feel sleepy.
Do not go to bed unless you are really sleepy.
Use the bed only for sleeping and not for just lying down. This is to program your brain that it's sleeping time when you are in bed.
If you can;t sleep after 30 mins of tossing and turning, get up and do something else. SIt in a dimly lit room and listen to soothing music. Then go to bed when you are really sleepy.
another reason for sleeplessness is the things that bother your heart and mind. Often, you are troubled in the inside without you really realizing it, that's why you cannot sleep. Maybe, you need to resolve a relationship issue, or keep your mind off work.
God bless. i hope this works. it worked with me.
good night.

Sleeping pills. There are an ever-increasing variety of short-acting, non-addictive ones available by prescription. Absolutely NO "hangover" effect the next morning. You will be cranky as hell tomorrow if you don't get the rest you need. In the words of Dow Chemical (sometime in the 1950's): "Better Living through Chemistry."
Sleep is a very important function in our life. Our maker new that for us to function fully we needed to have enough sleep.Having tried all the things you have listed here and many others.Allow me to ask you if you have tried prayer?.God the creator wants you and i to have life and life more abundantly. No harm in asking him the greatest of all to restore to you sleep. He says ask anything in the name of Jesus and if you BELIEVE it will be given unto you.Whatever your faith you need sleep, so try this.Ask in the name of Jesus and it shall be done. Amen
Exercise and do not drink too much coffee and cola.
I have clinical insomnia. If you want to fall asleep faster and stay asleep longer (wake up fewer times during the night), here is what you need to do:
1. Never have any caffeine after 5pm. That includes coffee, tea, coke/pepsi (diet too), mountain dew, red bull and other energy drinks, and (unfortunately) chocolate.
2. Spend at least 15 minutes outside in the sun every day. This will reset your biological clock, which in insomniacs gets completely screwed up by artificial lighting. We did not evolve to have lights after the sun goes down.
3. Exercise for at least 30 minutes every day. This will not only make your body tired, but will improve things like circulation and cardiovascular fitness that are important for healthy sleep.
4. Stretch before you get into bed.
5. Make your bedroom as cold as possible. About 50% of falling asleep is about body temperature, which is why it is so hard to fall asleep when it's hot. In a normal person, their body temperature falls by 1-2 degrees when they start to go to sleep. If you have trouble sleeping, you can force your body temperature down by being a little chilly. But bundle up. You want the room cold, but you don't want to start shivering or your metabolism will kick up and you'll get the opposite result.
6. I'm serious about the caffeine.
I had severe insomnia which lasted for years and these are the things that have helped me - maybe they will help you.
I started taking 1 Tablespoon of Flax oil 2x a day and that helped.
I also have to make sure to eat at regular times and to get enough protein (about 3-4 oz meat at each meal - or at least 25grams of protein). When I don't eat at regular times, it affects my blood sugar and I have trouble sleeping, but as long as I stick to my meal times (trying not to let more than 5 hours go between meals) and get enough protein it makes a big difference. Try it for yourself for about 2 weeks and see what happens.
Since doing these things I've seen an immense improvement. I also avoid white flour and sugar. Good luck. Feel free to write if you have any questions.
