Can someone help me about my burning and watering eyes?

Question:
First off, it is not allergies. Every so often my eyes will explode in massive amounts of pain and start to water. Almost like having hot pepper juice in my eye (or something like it). It happens at any time; when I'm driving, walking, watching TV, anytime. It could be one or the other or both. I went to the eye doctor and they said they didn't know what it is. It is totally random, I might not have an attack for months or it could happen daily. It happens all year and in any location.

Please only serious replies.

Thanks.

Answers:
I have this problem -- and it happens to me pretty much every day.
I saw the eye doctor for it, and he suggested it was allergies -- and while I think certain things may aggravate it, I've come to the conclusion that it's not a strictly allergy problem.

For a while I was taking a prescription eyedrop (can't rememeber what it was called) to keep my eyes from being so teary, and it worked very well. Every once and a while, because they were so dry, my eyes would burn, and I would treat that with an over-the-counter natural tears eyedrop to reach an equilibrium.
That worked well until I went to school and became horridly poor and could no longer afford the drops -- but this may be an avenue you and your eye doctor may want to explore.

Good luck!

Other Answers:
there is a visene for that or mabye you need glasses or new ones

whenever it burns put eyedrops or get some ice and wrap it around in a thin cloth and hold it on your eyes for a while.it might not completely stop the burning and watering forever but it will calm it down.I have the same problem except mine is allergies.take care It might be your contacts. I had a pair of O2s from Ciba Vision that did that to me. Try calling them up and letting them know you have a defective pair.

Otherwise, see an optometrist.

Take note when it happens. In other words, what is always the common factor when that happens. It could be something as simple as a sweater you wear. Hope this helps. Well, I sleep with my eyes partially open, and I wear contacts, so I suffer from watery eyes a great deal. My doctor told me about a gel eye drop called Systane. You can buy it at CVS, Walgreens or the like. It's very thick, so I wouldn't use it with contacts. I put it in every night before bed, and it really helps.

Has your doctor checked to see if you're blinking regularly? Not doing this can cause your eyes to dry out and water profusely.

I was about to jump in and suggest allergies. but since that was already eliminated. I found you this website with MANY ideas:o)
Only you know what kind of conditions you live in.
best of luck!!
