i dont know how to ask this but has anyone seen the show intervention?

Question: weell everyone on the show has people backing the addict showing that they care ,but what do you do when you have family and friends but feel they are not careing enough to even try or would even be there for you ??

you would be surprised to find that maybe they do if you are the addict your views may be distorted. Most addicts think that noone cares. People are that way its a defense mechanism to prevent from emotional pain. Its very painful to watch a dtr son friend go through addiction no matter what you tell them they don't listen and fears of finding them sick or even dead are too hard to bearIf your family friends really see you try they will be there for you they can't however do it for you only you can do it.
something I heard a long time ago be a friend to yourself first then you can be a friend to others.

You find a 12 step meeting. Even if you have a family that is supportive. Alcoholics Anonymous or Narcotics Anonymous. They will be listed in your phone book. Or you can look them up online. Try www.na.org
