Is there a scientific basis for Spontaneous Human Combustion (SHC)?

Question:

Answers:
There's no widely accepted explanation for this strange phenomenon, in which the human body simply bursts into flames for no apparent reason! If you have the time, check out the following sites for some rather intriguing findings on this issue: www.bbc.co.uk/dna/collective , wwwwrexhamparaskeptics.4t.com/... www.shadowlands.net/spon.htm.

fermentation of food in the stomach causing a build up of heat
Yes!

The fats in the body burn slowly like a candle using available clothing and materials for the wick. This can cause the body to burn hot enough to destroy everything, even bone. It takes quite some time for a body to burn like this and is not as spontaneous an the name suggests.
Because the flame is localised, the surroundings are normally untouched.
Absolutely not.
All experiments have shown that all cases of supposed "SHC" have happened to people who were very drunk, and fell asleep with cigarettes, or next to a space heater or stove. Then the "wick effect" takes over. I won't explain the whole thing here, but suffice it to say they've done experiments with dead pigs dressed in human clothes, and they get the same strange burning patterns as seen with cases of "SHC".
