Question:
Rectal temperature is usally 1 degree F more than axillary, so is 98.6 axillary or rectal normal.

Answers:
The normal temperature 98.6 was determined rectally.

Other Answers:
The temperature of your body at both places should be the same.
i believe oral, however 98.6 is an AVERAGE some people are off and that is normal for them.
I was taught in nursing school 98.6 orally and axillary would be one degree less (maybe) and rectally it runs 1 degree higher.
The thought is now, that 99 degrees is average for the norm.
