Question:
the nerves burn and itch. arms are very sensitive to touch. nothing particularly starts it burning and itching. It must be like restless leg syndrom in the arms. it is driving me nuts. makes me very nervous beacuase I can't make it stop. ignoring it only makes it burn worse

Answers:
You need to see your doctor or better yet a neurologist. Could be you have a motor neuron disease. Not good when you twitch a lot without control.

Other Answers:
I would go in to the doctor and see what is causing your neuropathic symptoms. It could be something like diabetes which cause peripheral neuropathy, or something simple like a vitamin deficiency (b12). Simple lab workups might be able to give you the sleep that you are longing for.
Without diagnosing you or seeing you in person.

Twitches tend to mean poor blood circulation around your muscles / nerves.

I'd recommend you take brisk walks, increase fluid intake,
Why dont you try therapeutic doses of vit B complx. It may simply be neuritis. But see your doctor as well.
Do you possibly work with your hands a lot, like type or a sales clerk, etc.? If so, this could be carpel tunnel syndrome. When I was younger I was a court stenographer. After a year or so I would wake up at night with burning and tingling in my arms, all the way up to my shoulder, and the pins-and-needles feeling. Stuff that should not normally be heavy was incredibly heavy, and it was hard to open a can of soda. Turned out to be CTS and I had to quit my extremely lucrative job. The funny thing is, typing doesn't bother me, but writing with a pen is excruciating.

In any case, go to a doctor and have it checked out. No physical pain is "normal," and so you just need to buckle down and go see your GP.

Hope everything works out for you!
I was having alot of pain & burning down my right arm over a 4-5 day period & was told by the dialysis nurses that I was over working it. It turned out to be a 10 point heart attack.
The truth is you can't dx this type of pain your self neither can a doctor without test to go by. It could be as simple as your sleeping on it wrong or like me damage to the heart, why take a chance, see your doctor.
PS ice pack could be causeing more damage if its the nerves stop it and see the doc.
Good luck.
