what is a reliable and accurate brand of automatic blood pressure monitor?
Question:
Answers:
My doctor recommended Omron to me.
Don't use the wrist or finger ones of any brand - very imprecise.
Take two or three readings at any sitting.
Whatever brand you get, take it to your doctor's office and have them check it side-by-side with what they use.
Hope this is of some interest.
Other Answers:
It's not so much the brand as it is the type. The kind that you have to wrap around your arm is better than the wrist monitors, but they're also more expensive.
Either way, take your monitor to your doctor's office, so that they can calibrate for you; that is check the accuracy of the reading it gives compared to the reading the nurse gets when she cuffs you.
If you're worried about your bp, you should check it once or twice a day, usually at the same time, after you've been sitting around, and write down the date, the time, the bp reading, and your pulse so you have an idea of what's going on with your bp over a period of weeks or months.
Good luck!
I use a OMRON model HEM-711 any pharmacy will carry it
it is accurate
I have an Omron model -702 - keep it at work - small and very accurate. It's a cuff type, you pump the bulb till it beeps -- it reads the systolic and diastolic and your heart rate too.
