You probably have pink eye. You should go see a doctor; very contagious. Good luck and try not to mess with it (touch it)

Could be conjunctivitis. I get it quite a lot. Don't touch the other eye with anything that has been near the infected one. Use separate towels for each eye, wash your face last and then your hands. The doctor has never given me anything which clears it up quicker than just leaving it. But as this is the first time you have had it, go for a check up.

if you wear contacts- take them out- it sounds like you scratched your eye- it usually requires a visit to the Dr to get drops-
