Was this suppose to happen after my blood test?
Question:
I haven't gotten the results back from the lab yet so I don't know if I have anything wrong.
Answers:
it sounds like the lab tech who took your blood was a little rough or in a hurry and gave you quite a bruise. a little soreness and slight bruising is normal, but I'm not sure about yours. you might call your dr.'s office and see if they think it needs to be seen about.
when in doubt, have it checked out.
Yuck, sounds like a blood clot or something! I am not sure you whole reason why you got the test and your symptoms, and I know that Yahoo Answers is a public place you may not want to add that information, so I highly suggest you try Web MD symptom checker JUST TO BE SURE! Let your doctor know when you go back for results or get them if it is still a problem.
It just sounds to me like the vein leaked a little resulting in the color and swelling. It should not be anything to worry about. If you still have it in a week with no improvement, it might be worth going back to the lab or to your doc for them to have a look.
Sounds like you got a bruise at the stick site - that happens to me almost every time I get blood drawn. A minute amount of the blood leaks into the tissue when they are doing the stickm or taking the needle out.
After the lab runs the test(s), they sent the report to your doctor who should contact you with the results. If it's been more than a week, call the office and ask about the results.
