Recurring ear ache?

Question:
I have itching and pain in both ears so i went to the doctor. The doctor said he didnt see any redness or swelling and recommended over the counter meds for people with allergies called Alavert D-12. I am still having problems with my ears. It is very painful and annoying and any advice would be helpful. I have used sweet oil in my ears and i am taking pain med in addtion to the D-12 but the pain seeps through

Answers:
Three to five drops of the warmed oil extract of mullein flowers (Verbascum thapsus), garlic (Allium sativa), or St. John’s wort (Hypericum perforatum), or a combination of any of the three should be placed into the affected ear. The oil of Calendula officinalis may be used in the same manner. If there is a persistent ear infection, goldenseal (Hydrastis canadensis) salve or tincture can be placed directly onto the outer ear or into the ear canal three to four times per day. Glycerin can be introduced into the ear if it is suspected that excessive earwax or water in the ear is causing the problem.

NEVER

Codeine based cough syrup helps an ear ache. I had this for years! Itching like you wouldn't beleive.then pain going through my jaw, so I would end up in the ER for pain medications for what they called "swimmers ear."

Yes, I had some water in my my eardrums; however, come to find out I have TMJ.a joint disorder in my upper jaw. Does your jaw crack when you eat or chew gum? Do you have problems opening up WIDE for you dentist? Do your ears ring as well as itch? If so, TMJ could be your problem. I would consult your dentist about this problem if your doctor can't figure it out. If your dentist doesn't treat TMJ (mine doesn't), he/she will refer you to someone who does. Good Luck!
