For Canadians only, how long do you have to wait to see a doctor? Is healthcare abysmal in Canada?
Question:
Answers:
There is a long wait to see specialists and many people do not have a family physician. It's become a major social issue and there is a lot of discontent among Canadian patients.
But don't think for a minute that Canadians are itching to move to a private system like the United States. Better to see a doctor in six months than no doctor at all. A system where priority care is given to the patient with the most money as opposed to one with the most urgent medical need would be considered immoral to most Canadians.
Health care shouldn't go to the highest bidder. It should be a medical decision only and a system that puts everyone on an even keel is more compassionate than an exclusionary system preferred by Republican politicians, but paid for by ordinary Americans with their lives and well-being.
As a kidney transplant patient, I've felt that I was well-treated and that I am well looked after, despite the shortcomings in our Canadian medical system.

That's a myth.
Health care here in Canada isn't "abysmal", as demagogues in the U.S. seem to think. It does have its problems, like health care systems anywhere, but everyone here does have access to care. Our problem is that Canadians think it's "free", when in fact it's paid out of general taxes, so too many Canadians clog up the system with totally trivial complaints. Also, doctors here don't get paid the multi-million dollar salaries that they do in the U.S. My experience has been that anyone with truly severe health problems will get perfectly adequate health care, but cases are judged by severity, not by how much money you happen to have.
You answered your own question when you used the word Republicans, which automatically negates the real truth. And no I am not a Democrat, or Independent, or anything else. I think they all lie and steal to suit their own needs. And besides, not many Republicans are uninsured which is why it isn't a problem.
Health care in Canada is great.
You may have to wait a bit to see your family doctor. But we have lots of Medicenters or walk in clinics. Your wait depends on how many people are there in front of you. In Alberta, we have Alberta health Care. I pay $132.00 every 3 months. Whether you can afford it or not, you will never be denied if you have to go to the doctor or hospital. I had my gallbladder out a few years ago, I spent the night in the emergency room and they took it out the next day, it didn't cost me a cent. You pay extra if you want Blue Cross, that comes in handy for dental work and prescription drugs, etc.
