Do you think smoking helps you lose weight?

Question:
I know stopping smoking makes you gain weight but I'm not sure if the reverse is true.

Answers:
Only if you eat to relieve stress. People who gain weight when the quit smoking do so because then have not dealt with the stress relief that smoking provided to them, and now have replace it with another oral fixation like salty and/or fatty foods.

Other Answers:
It is not true, because I gained weight when I smoked and lost it when I quit. Weird huh? It's different for everyone I guess.

It also kills you slowly. To some, it may. But for me as a smoker, it hasn't changed my appetite at all.

no it does not.

no but don't try it either i haven't but my aunt has all it does is harm your body and u don't want that

smoking increases your metabolism, when you quit, drink water, it does the same no, b/c if that was true i would be supper skinny!

second you quit you gain alot. Its the real reason the french supposedly arent fat. true that it works a bit but its really not worth it as an hunger killer. Try hoodia and slim fast. worked for me.

only thing helps you lose weight is yourself not a cancer stick I smoke its not good for any reason I lost 3 family members to cancer.they were heavy smokers, and 2 (including my mother) were younger than I was when they died.they all lost alot of weight as the cancer"ate" their bodies
;_;

Yes. eventually down to bare bones. smoking crack will help you lose weight ask oprah

If you take up smoking to lose weight you are pretty dumb. The other health problems that smoking causes are worse than a bit of extra weight as I'm sure I don't need to tell you. not to mention it's an expensive way to go about it - hard to believe ppl pay out all that money to kill themselves!? If you want to lose weight there is no substitute for a sensible well balanced low fat diet and regular exercise. with regular exercise I mean really getting off your butt and working up your heart rate for half an hour at least 3 times a week. Not only will you lose weight, but you will feel better for the exercise and diet change. Oh and by the way when I say diet, I mean eating in a healthy way that is sustainable as a way of life, not just a week of vegies and then back to MacDonalds.

which would you rather have: your life or a slim and trim body.

smoking kills you slowly by making your lungs black, making it hard to breathe, giving you congestive heart failure, ephysema, cancer, heart problems.circulatory problems and the list goes on but it does not help you to lose wieght. I don't know if the smoking will do it, but I'm sure the lung cancer caused by the smoking will
