Never actually been struck directly , but myself and a friend were fishing at a dam once, and early in the morning, around 3 0' clock, lightning struck a gum tree right by us.
We were half asleep at the time, and it was frightenening.
The tree was smoking, and we tasted cordite in our mouths.
The thunderclap was so loud our ears were singing for quite a while.
Very dangerous to fish with graphite or glass fibre rods in an electric storm.electric storm, it draws lightning.
We were lucky.
A little later the cops were chasing a stolen car , and fired shots at the occupants, some of the bullets went whining past us. We decided it was not our day, and packed up then.
I also witnessed lightning galloping along the top wire of a barb wire fence like a wild white horse one day during an electric storm.
Outside is not a good place to be during an electric storm, for sure !

not yet. almost did tho. last year on holiday, my mates and i decided to recreate the Ben Franklin kite experiment on a cliff in Cornwall during a thunderstorm to see what will happen. we tied the end of the string to a tree. it was interesting to say the least but really stupid.. DON'T TRY THIS AT HOME KIDS!!
