Anyone know what this popping and cracking could be?

Question: I have some serious back issues, two large herniations in my low back (L4-5, L5-S1). I have posted a lot of questions about it, but have a new symptom. When I sit and move there is a loud cracking and grinding noise, coming from whatever bones are in my butt. I am guessing it's my hip, as it's coming from each 'cheek' and is very painful when it happens. Anyone else ever have this or know what it is? Can this be because my spine has gotten worse and may be caused by compression. I was told it is probably just musle and joints, but it sounds and feels like bone on bone. I appreciate any help! Thanks
