Why is it that people still smoke,drink,do drugs even though they know that its not good for there health?

Because humans have a self destructive gene. It's bred into us, we either kill others or we kill ourselves
i dont do it i think bc they feel weird and different if they dont have it and their addictied to it

The reason people do this (me included) is because we don't look that far into the future. When I was 19, I started smoking regularly, and said I would quit when I was older. I also said I'd start taking care of my body soon. Now I'm 26, smoking a pack a day, overweight and a recreational drug user (though I think that's the least damaging).
Also, who wants to live to be 90 anyway. I say enjoy your time on earth while you're here. If I have to eat alfalfa sprouts and drink low calorie non alcoholic beer to make it to 90, count me out!
Some use it as a coping mechanism..Like me.I drink when I am depressed. I smoke because of stress and because I'm bored as hell. I personally have this thing about how.If you don't smoke, drink, whatever..and you don't like it.Just because other people who do it and it bothers you..doesn't mean you get to *****. I don't ***** because the minority wins in America..Lord, if the minority doesn't smoke, we can't smoke in restaurants. Smokers have to go out in the cold.etc to smoke because the minority bitched and got their way.
It's just like religion. I live in the freaking bible belt and because the minority throws a fit because we put God, etc on our money and in our legal buildings (ten commandments, even tho our laws are based on them) and they must be removed..
If you don't do it and don't like it.it's not really your problem..Let others kill ourselves. Lord.it's not hurting you. And as far as second hand smoke, etc. If you don't like it.go in another room or leave my house...
Some bad habits are hard to break, even though one may know that they're harmful.
