Can constantly cracking your back hurt you?

Question:

Answers:
Cracking can mean a lot of things. I have a technique that I use to stretch my back vertebrae, and it "cracks" like crazy. But this is stretching, and the noise is just the release of trapped gas.

I see people grabbing their neck constantly and yanking it around, and it sounds like a pop-corn popper. This is all well and good, unless there happens to be a herniated disc, and you are twisting bone against bone, potentially damaging nerves emanating from the vertebrae.

Bottom line, stretching vertebrae (with gentle force) can be helpful, twisting or crunching vertebrae can cause problems.

Most of us would do better to leave the spinal manipulation to a Chiropractor.

yes it does
I was told by my chiropractor that stretching joints (with gentle force) is alright.... but forcing, twisting or crunching them can cause problems.
