Does anyone know if they do anything for a broken rib?
is it worth going to the dr for a broken rib. i heard they don't even really do anything for it. is this true?

They don't do anything for broken ribs the best thing to do is have it checked out to make sure there is no further injury and if you're lucky they'll give you a few days worth of pain killers - get used to sleeping sitting up for a while too

You might want to see a doctor anyway because there can be fragments that poke or travel through the body. Also, with any bone break, you can get an infection. At the very least, make sure that you don't have any internal injuries if you injured your torso.

No they do not do anything for them unless there is more than 1 broke, also depends on how bad it is broke.

sometimes they'll tape you up to help with the pain and they'll definitely prescribe some pain killer - other than that, there's nothing to do but wait.

to my knowledge the only thing that can be done for broken ribs is to tape them up to restrict movement to relieve pain

they check to see how badly its broken if its a clean break or cracked it can cause blood poisoning if its not a clean break. then the give you a brace or wrap it to help keep it in place as it heals
my hubby broke 4 ribs and they did nothing. they did x-rays to make sure that the ribs had not punctured any lungs or done any internal damage. they gave him some pain meds and said to take it easy, not heavy lifting ect.

Really, there is nothing you can do for a broken rib. You may want to see your dr anyway to make sure that nothing is punctured inside. He can also prescribe a medication to help with the pain.
