Have you ever heard of pus from popping a pimple getting caught under the skin?

Question: My husband was popping a pimple behind his ear and he felt it pop, but instead of draining on the outside, he felt the pus draining under his skin. He now has a huge red swollen lump below his ear (about the size of a large marble). Has anyone else experienced this? Any advise would be great. Thank you.

He should see a dermatologist. The concern (and reason why physicians warn against doing this) is that bacteria may get into the bloodstream and travel to the brain or other tissues.

sounds like a cyst. pop it with a needle and see if anything come out.
