What is the pain relieving difference between Tylenol 3 and Norco?

Question:
My doctor prescribed Norco, it's a non-formulary drug on my insurance so I was given as Tylenol 3. This was prescribed for a thoracic and lumbar spinal injury. I just want to know if these two medications have the same pain relieving power.

Answers:
To me they did not. Norco has 10 mg of hydroconone and 325 acetominophen. Tylenol 3 has codine and caffine its a 300/15/30 breakdown usually. I was taking norcos regularly with sucess for a lumbar injury. Along with skelaxins neurontins and relifen. This combination worked great . Its when they switched me to codine then to oxycodone that ive been having problems again. To me the hrdro seemed to be stronger and/or more effective for my back pain. They can make your stomach upset but if you are used to tylenol 3's you should be fine. Good Luck and remember if they dont work call your Dr and ask then to change your meds. It took over a year before I found a good combination that worked for me . Now that we switched insurance companies I appearently have to start over.

Other Answers:
They should give about the same pain relief benefits. Norco just has hydrocodone where Tylenol 3 has codeine. The two are related.
