How badly should a torn meniscus cartilidge hurt?

Question:
I recently fractured my knee and tore my meniscus cartilidge and I have been feeling a new pain in the area that I tore it in. I don't know if it's that or something else....

Answers:
It hurts. It hurts badly. I had knee surgery for a lateral release of the muscle on my knee and to also repair the meniscus. It was painful before the surgery, and painful for a short time after the surgery. Physical Therapy did help with stretching the muscles. It's very possible the pain you are feeling is from the injury you have. Best of Luck with the healing process!

Other Answers:
I don't know how far out you are..
But now you are at an increased risk for arthritis...
Try icing it..
Biofreeze gel works pretty well as well
If your knee starts to lock up or give out you are more likely to have a torn meniscus.
Unbelieveably painful. Friend of mine was getting cortisone injections for hers and even that quit working. She wound up having surgery and once she got through that she said it felt better immediately.
ouch! very painful
