Awww, it's gonna be ok. It takes a swift second. when you think it's gonna hurt think a good thought take a deep breath and hold tight and it'll be over before you know it. I promise.

The best thing that works for me when I need to get a shot is as follows:
1) Look away
2) Ask the nurse/doc to tell you when it is coming
3) Just before the shot comes, take a deep breath
4) As he/she is giving you the shot, blow that breath out nice and steady and slow
You will hardly know you ever even got a shot. Good luck. You will be fine.
My best advice - turn your head and think of the cutest actor you know.
Now think of him having the horrible disease that you are being vaccinated against to protect you. How would he look? How horrible would his death be?
Now what if you decided not to have the shot because of a couple of seconds of pain? How bad would you look as you were dying a slow death?
You see - the shot doesn't sound so bad now - does it? Besides maybe you can con some ice cream out of it or a little shopping afterwards?
We've all had to go through these shots and not too many of us liked any of it but at least we're not sick!

modern shots do not hurt. the only thing you will feel is a needle penetrating your skin (it does not hurt because they are so sharp) and the medication will cause a pressure feeling when being injected. if there's a painful shot, they usually use a pain relieving med (procainamide,.) with it. so there's nothing to be scared of ( at least not the pain.)
