retinal damage?

Question: can a brief maybe half second accidental glace at a arc burn your retina? How easy does the retina burn and how long does it take? I no people that work and glace at it all the time and dont have problems but i worry.Also i dont think i looked directly at it does it matter?

maybe it could be a problem to ur sight ...since the images infront of us that we see r focsed on the retina and than made out into what we see though images focused on the retina are upside down ,it has its own way that transforms image into what we see.
