Continued swelling in leg after blood clot?

Question:
I had a blood clot in my right leg (at the top of my calf) one year ago. In July of last year I had an ultrasound and it was gone.

Why does my calf continue to swell up? It isn't terrible, but you can definitely tell a difference when I take my socks off.

My doctor still has me on blood thinner (warfarin) as well.

Am I ever going to be back to normal?

Answers:
A new blood clot could maybe be there, perhaps there is enough lateral flow to keep the swelling subsided. But I'm thinking more likely it could be a lymphatic problem and fluid is accumulating lymphatically. Definitely keep on top of this with your doctor! Get well!

Other Answers:
I don't know. It is very unusual and I think you have a broken vein or something like that. No blood clot could last that long.
Blood clot seems to have damaged the vein where it was, swelling may be explained because the vein can't hold anymore the blood with its little valves, so blood returns down.

Keep your leg wrapped with accurate anti thrombotic bandages, and when you are laying, raise it higher than your head.
