Why does this happen to my eyesight?

Question:
If I sit outdoors and read a book (which I like to do a lot--except for this problem) my vision gradually become "starry". I can describe it as being like having Vaseline rubbed over my eyeballs and trying to look through it. It takes quite a while for my eyesight to return to normal. Does anyone know the physical reason this happens? Does it happen to anyone else out there?

Answers:
I tend to have this problem too and this is what the eye doctor told me, it has to do with the lens in your eye. The lens has to change shape in order for you to see that object far away. It's takes time for the lens of your eye to adjust. So he told me when I'm reading to look up often at something far away and it works. Don't just sit and stare at that book for hours at a time, give your eyes a rest by looking away.
sitting in the sun too long, blink your eyes to refocus, or read inside
