When in ER ask you if you have allergy to any med,is that include adverse and side effects?

Question:
One time a nurse of ER ask me that, i told her that a medication accelerate my heart rate and she said :that is not an allergy to that medication, is she right?

Answers:
yes anything pertaining to that drug itself.

Other Answers:
absolutely yes. Side effects, itchyness, drowsiness etc. indicate possible complications with the drugs and especially possible problems with the interaction between drugs you may be taking and the drugs they are going to prescribe.

Since there are so many good alternatives, they will just choose one that doesn't cause a problem for you.
It generally is not considered an allergy when it is a possible side effect. But a adverse reaction is an allergy. Those symptoms have the oppisite effect on you than what the medicine is supposed to do, example Diet Pills. may increase your heart rate, not allergy,,,,,, Antibiotics cause itching or rash, adverse affect it should be listed as an allergy..

i am a nurse
Depends, if it is a cardiac medicine that is supposed to raise heart rate, then it wouldn't be considered a side effect.
