Best mosquito repellent?

Question:
I live in an area with lots of creeks, bogs and marshes, so every summer there are a bunch of vicious mosquitos around here. Because I am allergic to insect bites, wherever I get a mosquito bite, it swells like crazy and blows up to a huge size.
So this summer, I am determined to try to avoid mosquito bites altogether. Can you please recommend to me a really effective mosquito repellent that won't kill me in the process? I'd like to use a product that is least toxic to humans while simultaneous being very effective.
And any other general anti-mosquito tips would be appreciated as well. I hate mosquitos! They are the bane of my existence in the summer.
Thanks so much for your help!

Answers:
You could try Watkins insect repellent. It is the number one repellent in Canada, used by the department of forestry as well as the RCMP in Northern Quebec. It contains Doctor recommended Deet for the most effective protection against Lyme disease-carrying ticks, encephalitis carrying mosquitos and other pests. It's available in Canada and the U.S.

Avon's Skin-So-Soft. It's great!

Skin-so-soft by Avon. I swear it's the best. I used it way back during the Gulf War and have used it ever since. Garlic. I kid you not. I use a lot of garlic when I'm cooking, and while everyone else is scratching themselves to the point of bleeding, I haven't had a mosquito bite in YEARS.

You don't have to eat so much garlic that you reek of it..lol..but start consuming foods that have garlic in them and cooking with garlic.you'll be amazed. In my experience the products from Avon work very well. Also if it is possible you can plant citronella plants around your home, or put them in pots and these plants are a excellent mosquito repellent. And the are very pretty also.
Good luck!

The best way to repel mosquitoes is from the inside out. I take a lot of herbs and vitamins and I am almost never bothered by mosquitoes. I may end up with two bites all summer long. Garlic is another help. Whether you eat it in your food, or take the capsules. But if you take the capsules, the odorless do not work for this. Mosquitoes are attracted by you exhaled breath, when it is masked by the things you eat, the mosquitoes are not as attracted to you. Anyway, good luck and good summer.
