I can't sleep?
Question:
I'm 14, I wake up at 6, try to sleep at 9, but I'm just lying there for 2 or 3 or even 5 hours.
I've been like that for the last 2 months.
Nope, benadryl doesn't work.
No, I don't drink coffee.
Answers:
OK, try warm milk. Try stretching, and then after you do that, there is pressure points on your foot that can work. It is the back side of the heal of your foot. Press that for a while, stretch and then jump into bed and clear your mind of all things.
Other Answers:
do you exercise?
Get tired.
Try ambien or Lunesta!
Both have worked for me.
Or try Tylenol PM
Is this what u call insomnia? It's kind of a sickness I suppose. I was like you, only a little better, last year too but I somehow managed to get back to my normal sleeping time. Perhaps you can consult ur family doctor and ask for sleeping pills or something? Hmm.
well, when i can't sleep i just lay there and just try closing my eyes again. but ya you might have a lot of on your mind thats why you can't sleep ya that happens to me a lot :( just like last nite man i couldn't sleep i kept tosing and turning :(. good luck.
Are you just uncomfortable? If you keep on waking up because it's too hot, turn on the air conditioner. Otherwise, just try to bore yourself to sleep.
I have had the same problem for my whole life and I am 26. Some things that help:
Don't eat before you go to bed.
Turn your alarm clock to the wall so that you don't know what time it is.
If this is a real problem ask your doctor, some perscriptions can be helpful.
Go to bed after bit of meditation, lie relaxed , don't worry about sleeping, you will sleep, don't think of anything either.Practice this a few days .
It may be caused by stress. I know that was the problem when I couldn't sleep,or you may have some type of medical condition too. But it is most likely nothing like that. I would try eating good and lowering my stress levels first before doing anything like calling a doctor. It also may just be a phase.
i do that sometimes and i am only 13. well, maybe something is on ur mind and u can't stay asleep. if ur out of school, maybe u were used to waking up @ 6 and now u don't have school.
have your parents see your doctor with you need medical help
Drink something warm before you go to bed, Don't go to bed until you are absolutely sure you ready to sleep (I.E dozing off) Because you body will soon start to relalte lying in bed with staying awake.
Excercise more to create a routine and keep to it.
And if all else fails."Self-loving" is a cert way to promote drowsiness.
then get up and do something like walk, vacuum the house, read a book, do homework.
Yeah, drink some warm milk before you go to bed.
Have you tried reading before going to bed.
Talkiing on the phone.
Get on a sugar high an hour before going to bed.
See a doctor.
If you're 14 (really) then chances are your hormones are doing a loop and half. That doesn't mean anything is wrong with you, it just means that something may not be right.and it's best to talk to you doc just in case.
Also, are you going through stress? I assume that at your age, you're probably beginning high school next year? That can be stressful too. Maybe you can try talking to a big brother, or your parents about what is going on.
could it be girl troubles----- in love, argument, found out shes been cheating, you cheated.etc..etc.no,im not picking on woman !! just a guess ??
could be a couple of things your hormones so chill on the any extra candy or ice tea or soda especially now and if that dont work maybe you have what i have sleep apnea you can have your mom take ya to get a sleep study its easy or try masturbation for some stress relief talk to your doctor your old enough to talk to him in a private room maybe there is other things goin on good luck
I assume you are saying you get up at six am and go to bed at nine pm.
It could be that your body just doesn't need as much as sleep as that. Try going to bed at ten and reading a book for an hour. See if that makes a difference.
My son is a 10pm bed time person that wakes up at 5 am every morning. It has nothing to do with insomnia, its just thats all his body needs right now.
is your mind racing? if so, you need to relax before you get into that bed.
try baths with lavendar. i even use lavendar spray on my sheets.
you also might want to try different caffiene-free teas before bedtime. tazo makes a chammomile that has mint and roses in it- fabulous.
are you stressed? there are many good counselors out there to help us manage stress. or, just pull a friend aside and let your stress out by venting to them. you'd be amazed the difference you feel once you put your anxieties into words and get them out of you. also try writing out what's in your head and surrender it to the page. just get it out of you.
a cool bedroom helps, too. windows open, or AC on. try sprinkling baby powder over cotton sheets.ahhhh.
if you have a significant other, perhaps have them rub your back or your head or your feet to ease you into sleep.
usually, insomnia is a symptom! you have to figure out what the problem is. just listen to your body, you'll figure it out.
I think get tired is the best answer: play sports real hard dude, then go to bed.
You know, for one possible reason may be that you try to sleep too much.
For example, you go to bed, and then you focus like "้hey, I must sleep, I must sleep" and that will make you unsleepable.
Sometimes, I do counting the numbers.
When you count just don't count normally, illustrate the numbers in strange ways. For example, fire, stone, water, blue line or even animation. What I always do is like illustrate fire moves in the shape of a number.
Hope it'll help. :)
At 14 I doubt if you have much stress to overwhelm you and keep you up, so maybe you should take a look at your diet. Some people have extreme reactions to caffeine, which is found in much more than coffee. Soda, tea, chocolate.
Also too much sugar can cause insomnia. I don't know who in the world told you to take benadryl as a sleeping aid, but it was really bad advice, meant for an antihistamine, to much could damage your heart muscle, among other things.
Are you trying to sleep in a dark quiet room, no TV, radio, computer screen light? If so, eliminate that. Maybe read a book when you go to bed, so you will be consentrating on just that, when I do that, I read until my mind begins to stray from what I am reading and sleep comes almost immediately.
Try all the normal stuff too, good pillows, neat.fresh bed, maybe even a hot bath.
All else fails, have your parents take you to the doc.
Time to go to a doctor and get some meds, this has being going on to long to be normal.
There are a lot of great articles and information on how stress can effect sleep at ( http://www.reducingstress.net ). there are also many tips for solving the problem. Also, there is a link to the stresseraser which is a great biofeedback device that can help you get to sleep.
Melatonin is a hormone produced naturally in the pineal gland at the base of the brain. It is important in regulating sleep, and may play a role in maintaining circadian rhythm, the body’s natural time clock. The hypothalamus keeps track of the amount of sunlight that is taken in by the eye. The less sunlight, the more melatonin that is released by the pineal gland, thereby enhancing and regulating sleep. Melatonin can also be taken in an over-the-counter supplement mainly sold in health food stores and pharmacies.
