Do people get pleasure from hurting themselves? Why?

Question:
Are you guys like this? Skin's peeled off on one of your fingers, but you keep peeling it and make it to bleed, even though it hurts like hell, but you still keep doing it. Or a pimple on your face, you keep pressing it even though it hurts, why do people do that? I can't stop doing it!

Answers:
Yes, people do get pleasure from hurting themselves. Your maladies seem pretty benign. It can be called self-mutilitation, self-medication, and more, in varying forms of destructiveness. People cut themselves, burn themselves, starve themselves, and tons more ways. Why? It depends on the person. Some people thrive on the endorphins of "surviving" the pain. Others can't stand the pain they feel emotionally and so they make it a physical pain.

Other Answers:
physical pain is easier to deal with than emotional pain.
I do that too. I think its more compulsiveness and obsession than it is Sadism or Masochism. When I have a hangnail or a piece of skin on my finger it just sticks out in my mind. So I'll peel it off or yank it, even though I know it will hurt like hell.
There Ether in pain wereid stupid or even crazy
well, i used to cut because it relieved my stress and i felt free from everything that was "out to get me or make me mad" to me, it was something i could not explain in words; but on my body. But i only do this when i am upset

Some people just like hurting themselves because they like torture. Or they may just find it erotic... different reasons though.
i have a habit of doing those dings too
I do many things to hurt myself. as said,"physical pain is easier to deal with than emotional pain. " mayny people do such things on many different leavles. I think in many ways it is addictive. and a negative esxape, but an exscape all the same.
Yes. Some people do. There is a type of psychological illness is called "Cutting". Where people cut themselves to feel pain. Generally this means they have suffered some type of psychological or physical abuse int he past. And it is their way of coping with the pain of that incident.

Also some people say they get a type of pleasure from pain. So they inflict it to feel better, or elated. Some people use it sexually.
Talk to a professional about it. The problem with questions like this is that most people will not be able to give you an informed opinion on how to deal with it, so they will spout off some emotional nonsense that applies to them, not you.

Tell your doctor, or call a psychiatrist. Be determined to find an answer and get help, don't let anything stop you.

Good luck! :-)
