Dog bite on my left hand, middle finger...Question?

Question:
So I go to the ER last night.

My dogs got into a fight over a piece of food that hit the floor.

Never has happened before, both dogs are inside dogs, all current on their shots, but I've already been advised we have to monitor them for 10 days, even though we know they're safe.

Anyway, I have a deep cut that had fat coming out of it, and the ER doctor didn't stitch it, even though he admitted it needs stitches, because he said that dog bites run a risk of infection, especially on the hands, and that stitching it could seal in the infection.

I have to go back in 4 days to be stitched up.

The doctor was just so "weird" acting...ASKING me..."do you want an x-ray to make sure your bone isn't broken" or "do you want to have sutures, or wait, I recommend you wait"...like he didn't really know what he was doing.

With that being said...any of you ever had a dog bite on the hand or known someone that did? How did things turn out? I feel like I'm being thrown to the wolves

Answers:
It is important to continue monitoring your wound and yourself even after seeing the doctor. My guess is that you may have been attended to by a 'houseman' at the ER (especially if the visit was after-hours). Weren't you given some jab or oral medication to fight against the potential infection?

If you are still uncertain, I suggest that you go visit a trusted General Practitioner for a second opinion. And whatever happens, don't forget to go back in 4 days (if you have not seen somebody else by then).

Good luck.
you should have asked if he was a real doctor
